Ingredients

  • Romaine lettuce
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Cucumber
  • Kalamata Olives
  • Feta Cheese
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Oregano
  • Olive oil
  • Red wine vinegar

Method

Let’s see the steps to make homemade Greek salad.

Step 1

The first thing we need to make this salad is a bunch of fresh romaine lettuce, wash it, and give it a rough chop. Next, grab a whole purple onion and give it a rough chop or slice. Next up, we’ll need one tomato and one whole cucumber chopped. You can leave it unpeeled or peeled, whatever you prefer.

Step 2

Next up, add 1 1/2 cups of Kalamata olives. These are the most critical ingredients, so make sure you chop them properly. However, I recommend you to get them from a Greek bakery or European food place than the ones from North America. There’s a real Greek one that we usually use for our Greek salad.

Step 3

And finally, it’s about the cheese. You’ll need one cup of feta cheese, and again if you have a Greek bakery nearby, Greek feta is always the best. It’s the original. Now that we have all the ingredients for our salad, we will leave it. I recommend you don’t toss the ingredients before you add your dressing. Once you add the dressing, then give it a light toss.

Step 4

So let’s go ahead and start the homemade dressing to prepare authentic homemade Greek salad. First, we will need 1/4 of a teaspoon of sea salt. I recommend the pink Himalayan salt. It tastes amazing, and also add 1/4 of a teaspoon of black pepper. The freshly ground black paper makes such a big difference. Finally, add half a tablespoon of oregano. If you have fresh oregano, that’s great. If you have dry oregano, use that.

Step 5

Next, we’ll need 1/3 of a cup of olive oil. Now, this makes all the difference. Make sure your olive oil is extra virgin olive oil. If you can find the Greek kind, it’s incredible. Or even like Turkish oil, olive oil is excellent as well.

At last, We will need one tablespoon of vinegar. Make sure it’s red wine vinegar. Any other vinegar will just kill the taste. So, give it a little stir to combine it all again and give a quick toss, and you’re good to go.
